As a Consultant you will be an integrated member of our UK Groundwater Advisory team, whose primary role is to support in the collection, collation and interpretation – including quantitative assessment and modelling – of hydrogeological data on a broad range of engineering, environmental and water resource projects.
Variety comes as standard and you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across our business, providing technical advice and assessment for our built environment projects to our work with water supply companies. Partnering with clients, you’ll build a deep understanding of the complex challenges they face, before applying your technical knowledge and experience to deliver the best solution. In addition, there will be opportunity to broaden your skills within our wider geo‑environmental consultancy team including training relating to site investigation skills, land quality and engineering geology assessments.
You will have up to 3 years’ experience within a consultancy, water company or regulatory environment and be capable of developing conceptual models that work towards addressing project-based outcomes. Experience with groundwater model development is desirable. There is flexibility as to your choice of location within the UK, however we are ideally looking for someone to be in our Birmingham, London, Bristol, Guilford, Glasgow or Exeter offices although for the right candidate other Arcadis office locations will be considered.
Your Day‑to‑Day:
- Processing data from site investigations (for example groundwater levels, well pumping records, geological information, chemical quality) and databases (for example topographic data, rainfall data, soil and land use etc.) as required by the groundwater project lead.
- Assisting the project team in developing hydrogeological conceptual models for use in hydrogeological impact appraisals and/or translation into 2D and 3D models.
- Presenting outputs in a range of software products, including GUIs, GIS and MS Office applications.
- Ensuring that interpretation of data and model rationale and outcomes are well documented so that they can be followed by the team.
- Contributing to the production of reports.
- Fulfilling duties within the Arcadis business management system including the completion of mandatory training, timesheets and other submissions as required.
- Responding proactively to potential delays in a manner that reduces or eliminates the risk of delay.
Requirements:
- Sound knowledge and understanding of geology and hydrogeology within consultancy/water company/regulatory setting.
- MSc qualified (or higher) in Hydrogeology or similar, or equivalent is desirable.
- Experience with developing and calibrating 3D groundwater models is desirable.
- Effective interpersonal and communication, and time management awareness.
- Full, clean driving licence preferred.
