Role description: The Associate Cost Consultant will support and lead cost management activities across major Rail, Highway and Aviation programmes in the UK.

Working as part of the Mobility Commercial Management team, the role involves regular site‑based engagement (around 2–3 days per week across the London area), close collaboration with contractors and clients, and contribution to the delivery of consistent, high‑quality commercial outcomes.

Role accountabilities: Lead, coach and develop team members, promoting knowledge‑sharing and building capability to strengthen overall service delivery standards.

Prepare robust project costings and budgets from defined objectives, managing financial performance to ensure profit targets are met and best‑value outcomes achieved.

Oversee and deliver cost management assignments from inception to completion, coordinating teams and resources to meet client expectations consistently.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of client priorities within the relevant sector, aligning delivery approaches to support their key objectives.

Monitor team performance and conduct, providing guidance where required and ensuring adherence to organisational policies, processes and codes of conduct.

Ensure full compliance with contract requirements, maintaining accurate delivery parameters and scope of service across all project activities.

Analyse and interpret complex data and documentation, applying professional judgement to provide clear, evidence‑based recommendations that inform project decisions.

Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior clients and stakeholders, identifying opportunities to enhance the cost management service and support future business growth.

Qualifications & Experience: At least 10 years’ experience delivering medium to large‑scale infrastructure projects across the full lifecycle.

Demonstrable experience in cost and commercial management within the Rail, Highway or Aviation sectors.

Experience working with NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including application of contract mechanisms, managing compensation events and supporting compliant commercial delivery.

Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior client representatives.

Proven ability to lead teams and contribute positively to team culture.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex commercial data.

Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant discipline.

Professional qualification or chartership (e. g.

RICS) preferred.

CSCS card holder or willingness to obtain.
