We are now looking for a commercially minded, fully qualified Senior Management Accountant to join our talented finance team at our Kirby Muxloe head office. This is a high-visibility role offering direct, regular exposure to our Group Financial Controller and CFO, where your insights will directly influence strategic business decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the preparation of monthly management accounts, detailed P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
  • Lead monthly review meetings with the Group FC and CFO, providing clear commentary and constructive challenge.
  • Act as trusted financial advisor to non-finance stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, actionable commercial insights.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, maintain internal financial controls, and take ownership of VAT computations and HMRC submissions.
  • Act as primary point of contact for external auditors, preparing schedules, coordinating queries and supporting statutory accounts preparation.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities, support the budgeting and forecasting cycles, and drive process efficiencies to enhance reporting capabilities.

Who we are looking for

This role is perfect for a resilient, solutions-focused accountant who thrives in a fast-moving multi-site environment and has confidence to challenge the status quo.

Essential criteria

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
  • Strong management accounting experience in retail or a similarly fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Proven experience owning end-to-end management accounts, solid understanding of UK VAT/statutory requirements, advanced Excel.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and track record of presenting financial data to senior stakeholders.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in discount/value retail or multi-site operations.
  • Experience coordinating and supporting external statutory audits.
