We are now looking for a commercially minded, fully qualified Senior Management Accountant to join our talented finance team at our Kirby Muxloe head office. This is a high-visibility role offering direct, regular exposure to our Group Financial Controller and CFO, where your insights will directly influence strategic business decisions.
The Role: What You’ll Do
As our Senior Management Accountant, you will take full ownership of our end-to-end monthly management accounts process. You won't just be crunching the numbers—you will be interpreting them, presenting them to senior leadership, and business-partnering with Heads of Departments across the company to drive performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Management Reporting & Insight: Own the preparation of monthly management accounts, detailed P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting. You will lead monthly review meetings with the Group FC and CFO, providing clear commentary and constructive challenge.
- Strategic Business Partnering: Act as a trusted financial advisor to non-finance stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, actionable commercial insights.
- Financial Control & Compliance: Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, maintain internal financial controls, and take ownership of VAT computations and HMRC submissions.
- Audit & Statutory Support: Act as a primary point of contact for external auditors, preparing schedules, coordinating queries, and supporting statutory accounts preparation.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify risks and opportunities, support the budgeting and forecasting cycles, and drive process efficiencies to enhance our reporting capabilities.
Who We Are Looking For

Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
- Experience: Strong management accounting experience gained within retail or a similarly fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Technical Skills: Proven experience owning end-to-end management accounts, solid understanding of UK VAT/statutory requirements, and advanced Excel skills.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of presenting financial data clearly to senior stakeholders.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience specifically within discount/value retail or multi-site operations.
- Experience actively coordinating and supporting external statutory audits.
