Join us as a QA Technologist (Electrical) at Poundstretcher Ltd. In this key role, you'll ensure our electrical products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with UK/EU regulations.
What You’ll Do
- Quality and Safety Assurance: Ensure all electrical products meet UK and EU safety standards, including bespoke items.
- Technical Assessments: Evaluate products against safety regulations and industry standards.
- Testing Requirements: Research and recommend testing protocols to guarantee legislative compliance.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain detailed technical files to ensure the safety of imported goods.
- Artwork and Labeling Approval: Review and approve product artwork, manuals, and labels to ensure legal compliance.
- Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on the latest industry trends and regulations, sharing insights across the team.
- External Coordination: Collaborate with external labs, suppliers, and our Far East sourcing team to ensure product quality.
- Problem Solving: Address customer complaints and resolve non-conformance issues swiftly.
- Global Engagement: Occasional travel to China to oversee product quality and supplier compliance.
What We’re Looking For
- Product Knowledge: Expertise in electrical categories like SDAs, heating, cooling, lighting, and home/garden products.
- Regulatory Expertise: Strong understanding of UK/EU electrical standards and regulations.
- Commercial Awareness: Ability to assess the commercial impact of quality and safety decisions.
- Experience: Proven track record in product development or quality assurance within a retail environment.
- Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, especially for conveying technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Strong time management and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Technical Background: At least 12 months in a technical or QA role within the electrical category, ideally in a retail or testing environment.
- Education: A relevant degree or equivalent technical qualification/experience is preferred.
- Bonus Skills: Experience in other product areas (chemicals, toys, textiles) is a plus.
