About The Role
We are recruiting for a Buyer to join our General Merchandise Commercial team at Poundland & Dealz. The Buyer will lead retail buying for our Home category (including cushions, throws, other textiles, candles, picture frames and decorative objects) or Everyday Home category (including storage, food containers and wrap, and kitchen accessories). This hybrid role is based from our Customer Support Centre in Walsall.

Your Impact And Responsibilities
- Accountability for the category performance, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and resolving issues across your category.
- Responsible for the development of category strategies, including research and analysis (spend analysis, cost benchmarking etc.) to identify category saving opportunities and develop strategic category plans.
- Ensuring the supply of core ranges and developing newness across the category which offers value to our customers.
- Negotiating costs and delivery timescales in line with company budget and KPI's.
- Developing and building product ranges with suppliers to ensure we can offer customers amazing products at an amazing value.
- Understanding and interpreting key customer insights and data to identify and react to market trends and shopping habits.
- Working collaboratively with Merchandising, Marketing and Retail Operations to ensure critical path delivery.
- Meeting with suppliers, visiting factories and attending trade shows to develop ranges, negotiate the cost of goods and explore new markets in developing countries/economies.
Skills And Knowledge
- Previous experience as a Retail Buyer in a Homeâbased category.
- Experience in Supplier Development and Management in the UK and internationally.
- Demonstrable skills in a similar buying role maximising business potential and performance.
- Experience of range building to include core products, trends and newness.
- Experience in working crossâfunctionally in delivering significant business change.
- Previous experience of delivering strategies, plans and work plans, with associated targets, KPI's and performance monitoring and reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience of working crossâfunctionally to deliver critical paths.
- Able to demonstrate strength in using both analytical and creative skills to make effective commercial decisions.
