We are currently recruiting for a Network Engineer on a fixed term contract of up to 6 months. This is a field-based role and ideally we are seeking someone from the Bristol region. The Network Engineer will visit stores across the North, Scotland and Ireland. The role will require substantial travel and regular overnight stays. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Working alongside the Project Manager and the Network Operations Centre, the Field Network Engineer will visit the Poundland and Dealz stores after fibre broadband lines have been presented by the ISP and provision the fibre lines. They will work with the Project Manager to agree the optimum schedule for themselves and communicate on arrival and completion of the activity. They will work with the Network Team to migrate the stores and ensure that the upgraded store connectivity is fully up and running.

Your Impact and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the Project Manager to plan the migrations to fibre broadband in stores in the most effective manner.
  • Provide on-site support for Network Operations Centre during the implementation.
  • Identify location of fibre broadband installation.
  • Data Network patching and connectivity within the site comms cabinet.
  • Ensure network connectivity has been reestablished after the migration including troubleshooting connectivity issues should they arise.
  • Travel to Poundland and Dealz locations, including staying away from home for periods at a time.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Previous experience in a Regional Network Engineer role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Network cabling/patching.
  • Previous experience of broadband technologies including FTTP, SoGEA, and ADSL.
  • Previous experience of Fibre technologies including Leased Lines.
  • Previous experience of Networking – Fortinet knowledge desirable.
  • A full UK driving licence.
