BASIC PURPOSE: To support the product development team by using electrical, thermal, and mechanical techniques to perform reliability testing on new and existing products. This includes analysing device performance and managing documentation when needed.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES (End Results Expected):

  • Perform daily equipment checks and basic equipment maintenance to ensure correct test operation.
  • Prepare samples for all testing activities including marking, board mounting and preconditioning.
  • Perform reliability tests by unloading, testing and reloading samples within specified time limits.
  • Perform visual inspection of test samples for defects using microscopes.
  • Design, build and maintain test boards and fixtures required for testing.
  • Edit test programs for STi ATE test systems.
  • Record and edit test data in Excel files and maintain in designated storage locations.
  • Manage the wafer stores by logging details of samples entered and tracking any material removed.

  • Confident in asking for advice when required.

COMMUNICATIONS:

  • ORAL: Effective verbal communicator across engineering and cross‑functional teams including Product development Engineers, Process Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Maintenance Engineers, Quality Engineers, Human Resources.
  • WRITTEN: Excellent written communication skills essential for accuracy.

SCHEDULING AND PLANNING:

  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Good time management skills essential to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Reliable and consistent timekeeper.
  • Flexible approach to support testing activities across different shifts when required.

BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • EDUCATION: 5 x GCSE’s Level 5 or above, including Maths, English and a Science subject preferred.
  • TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Previous clean room experience is desired. Awareness of Health and Safety protocols and the importance of always wearing the correct PPE.
  • SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Familiarity with building test fixtures and soldering techniques.
  • OTHER SKILLS: Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel. Good manual dexterity.
