Construction Director – Residential Developer PLC – Walsall, West Midlands - £140,000 base plus package.

Our client is a highly respected national housebuilder with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality developments across the Midlands.

Due to continued growth and a strong land pipeline, they are seeking an exceptional Construction Director to lead the operational delivery of multiple residential developments across the region.

This is a pivotal board-level leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape the construction function, drive operational excellence, and play a key part in the continued success of a thriving regional business.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take full responsibility for the construction function, ensuring developments are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You will lead and develop a high-performing team of Contracts Managers, Site Managers, and Construction professionals while working collaboratively with the Commercial, Technical, Land, and Sales departments to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the construction delivery of multiple residential developments across the Midlands.
  • Develop and implement regional construction strategy in line with business objectives.
  • Drive programme performance, quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within agreed budgets.
  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing construction teams.
  • Work closely with Commercial and Technical teams to maximise build efficiency and profitability.
  • Monitor build programmes, KPIs, health and safety performance, and customer care metrics.
  • Champion best practice, continuous improvement, and innovation throughout the construction function.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, consultants, and local authorities.
  • Support the regional leadership team in delivering ambitious growth plans.

About You

We're looking for an established Construction Director or an ambitious Senior Construction Manager/Head of Construction ready to step into a regional leadership role.

You will have

  • Significant experience within a PLC or large regional residential developer.
  • A proven track record delivering high-volume new-build housing developments.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and operational expertise.
  • A thorough understanding of NHBC standards, Building Regulations, and current health and safety legislation.
  • The ability to lead multiple projects while maintaining exceptional quality and customer satisfaction.
  • A collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing people and driving performance.
