Overview

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity here at Potens for a Development Role. Are you an experienced Senior Support Worker ready to take the next step in your career? Do you have a passion for supporting adults with learning disabilities, and the drive to develop your leadership skills? If so, this development role could be your perfect opportunity. We are offering a structured development post designed to support your progression from Senior Support Worker to being able to apply for a management post at Potens within our Adult Learning Disabilities services. You’ll work closely with the Home Manager and leadership team to develop the skills, confidence, and qualifications needed to step up into a management position. Larwood House, located in Kirkby in Ashfield, is a registered residential care home for up to 9 adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading shifts and supporting staff teams.
  • Promoting person-centred care and ensuring the highest quality of support.
  • Contributing to care planning, reviews, and safeguarding.
  • Building strong relationships with families, professionals, and the wider community.
  • Developing your knowledge of management, compliance, and quality assurance standards.
  • Shifts will include, 7 am to 2 pm, 2 pm to 9 pm and waking nights 9 pm to 7 am. Weekend and bank holiday working is required.

Who you are

  • You hold (or will be working toward) NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
  • Have experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and a genuine commitment to person-centred practice.
  • You will be confident leading shifts and supporting colleagues.
  • You are able to work on your own initiative.
  • You demonstrate strong communication, organisational, and record keeping skills.
  • You will be flexible, resilient, and enthusiastic about continuous learning.
  • Drivers preferred but not essential.
