What you’ll be doing:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act, RIDDOR, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER and Fire Safety regulations
- Develop, review and maintain policies, procedures and risk assessments
- Work closely with maintenance and operational teams to implement safe systems of work, including permits, isolation procedures and contractor controls
- Conduct site inspections, audits and monitoring activities across multiple locations
- Lead and support incident reporting and investigations, producing clear reports with root cause analysis
- Deliver training, toolbox talks and briefings to staff at all levels
- Promote a positive and proactive safety culture across the organisation
- Support managers and teams with practical health and safety advice
- Maintain accurate, audit‑ready records and produce reports for senior leadership
- Act as the main contact for external health and safety consultants and support annual inspections
Who you are:
- Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
- Confident working in environments such as healthcare, estates, facilities or other operational settings
- Excellent communicator, able to engage with frontline teams and senior leadership
- Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities independently
- Analytical with strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Confident delivering training and influencing a positive safety culture
- Team player who is approachable, supportive and solutions‑focused
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards)
- IOSH membership (TechIOSH/GradIOSH)
- Experience within health and social care or similar regulated environments
- Training or “Train the Trainer” qualification
