We are recruiting Prisoner Custody Officers across UK courts, offering £13.65 per hour after 12 months. You will be responsible to ensure the care, safety and wellbeing of adults in custody while managing prisoner movements and supporting court operations in a calm, professional manner.
As a Prisoner Custody Officer, you will be responsible for the care, safety, security and wellbeing of adults held in court custody. You will ensure that individuals in your care are treated with dignity and respect while maintaining a safe, secure and structured environment. The role involves responsibility for both the physical and mental wellbeing of detainees, working closely with court authorities and escorting teams, and ensuring accurate completion of all relevant documentation.
You will work as part of a team to manage prisoner movements, ensure attendance at court on time, maintain order within custody suites and courtrooms, and adapt to changing and often challenging situations. The role requires professionalism, empathy, resilience and the ability to remain calm and confident under pressure.
