The Core Systems Informix Developer is a key member of the Core System Team, responsible for contributing to the delivery of functional objectives, always modelling the Post Office behaviours, and demonstrating a Postmaster and Retailer first mindset.

The Core Systems Informix Developer will support and maintain a complex, bespoke, 24/7 financial system processing approximately 36 million transactions per year. This is a hands-on role requiring deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently within a very small team. They will work closely with development teams in maintaining ongoing system performance, reliability, and the successful delivery of releases and work closely with key business stakeholders to deliver agreed project work, ensuring outputs meet defined requirements and are completed within committed timescales.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Proven experience collaborating with peers, colleagues, and stakeholders to contribute to the delivery of functional strategy to achieve business objectives.
  • Experience in establishing successful, cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading on the delivery of project milestones to achieve key objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining Linux shell scripts for automation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Proven experience in supporting mission critical, high volume systems operating in a 24/7 environment.
  • Hands on experience working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (RH9), with use of tools such as sed and awk.
  • Strong background in relational database environments, including day to day database administration tasks such as index rebuilds, backups, recovery, replication, and performance monitoring.
  • Experience in reading, analysing, and supporting legacy shell scripts and 4GL code.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues, providing clear diagnosis and resolution.
  • Experience working independently within a small, technical team, taking ownership of issues and solutions.
