The Hardware Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of all physical IT assets within the Post Office. This includes supporting procurement, deployment, maintenance, tracking, and disposal of hardware such as laptops, desktops, servers, mobile devices, and branch equipment. The role ensures that hardware assets are accurately recorded, optimally utilised, and compliant with internal policies and external regulations ensuring that the CMDB is fully up to date.

By maintaining a robust asset management framework, the Hardware Asset Manager supports operational efficiency, cost control, and risk mitigation, while enabling teams to access the tools they need to perform effectively.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Proven experience in IT asset management or hardware lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of IT hardware components and configurations.
  • Proficiency in asset tracking tools and inventory management systems.
  • Experience with Configuration Management Databases (CMDB) and maintaining accurate asset records as configuration items.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and support negotiating contracts.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity and data protection standards related to hardware.
  • Proficient in using asset management systems to track, update, and report on hardware inventory.
  • Ability to manage multiple assets across locations and teams.
  • Skilled in conducting audits and reconciling inventory discrepancies with precision.
  • Experienced in managing vendor relationships and coordinating procurement, warranties, refresh cycles and repairs.
  • Knowledgeable in IT hardware including desktops, laptops, servers, and mobile devices.
