What to expect

The Operational Support Team Leader (OSTL) is responsible for leading a geographically dispersed team of Operational Support Specialists (OSS) who deliver Post Office Limited (POL) Stock Check Visit (SCV) requirements across the 11,500 branch network. The purpose of this role is to provide strong leadership, ongoing guidance, and essential training to the Operational Support Team to ensure they are fully equipped to support Postmasters. The OSTL ensures the team maintains high operational standards, drives consistency, and delivers accurate, reliable support throughout the SCV process – a key role in effectively managing branch risk.

Job Specific Accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage the OSS team (8–10 colleagues) to ensure Stock Check Visits (SCVs) and associated interventions are delivered on time, to the required standard, and in full compliance with SCV procedures.
  • Oversee and coordinate quarterly Quality Assurance Reviews, including financial QAR. Ensure calibration of outcomes and provide coaching based on findings to drive consistency, uplift capability, and support continuous improvement across the team.
  • Work closely with the OS Admin Team (OSAT) to align workplans, manage Authorised Time Back (ATB), overtime, overnight stays, and travel parameters. Ensure the fair, efficient, and cost effective allocation of work across geographic regions.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role you:

  • Must have an excellent working knowledge of POL (Post Office Limited) accounting processes and
    Horizon workings.
  • Must have an excellent knowledge of POL in branch processes.
  • A strong understanding of SCV & Compliance procedures.
  • Ability to be mobile and travel as required, working outside of normal office hours if required.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently to deliver results.
  • Demonstrable experience of completing work to a high quality to achieve objectives and key results.
