The Product Owner - People Applications is accountable for defining, shaping, and continuously evolving the people technology product estate, working in close partnership with the People team to support the outcomes they are seeking to achieve for colleagues, managers, and the wider organisation. This is a product-led role, responsible for setting clear product direction, vision, and priorities for People applications. The role focuses on maximising product value, ensuring alignment to People, colleague, manager, and business outcomes, and enabling simpler, more effective digital experiences across the employee lifecycle.

The Product Owner will play a key role in the ongoing digital transformation of People services, helping to modernise and optimise core people processes, platforms, and ways of working. Experience with SAP SuccessFactors is preferred, alongside first-hand experience of taking organisations through transformation journeys from legacy or fragmented processes towards integrated, data-led, and user-centred people solutions.

The role will translate People strategy and business needs into a coherent product roadmap and prioritised backlog, ensuring that investment and delivery decisions are driven by measurable outcomes, adoption, colleague experience, operational efficiency, compliance, and long-term product sustainability.

Working closely with People, Technology, Transformation teams, and third-party partners, the Product Owner ensures People applications support evolving organisational needs and enable seamless end-to-end people journeys. They act as the voice of users and the People function, balancing usability, process effectiveness, data quality, compliance, integration, and operational resilience.

What we can do for you:

  • 27.5 days annual leave (rising to 30 after 2 years), plus bank holidays
  • Up to 18% on target bonus opportunity
  • Annual car allowance
  • Generous pension scheme with minimum 10% employer contribution
  • Access to 24/7 digital GP services and our Employee Assistance Programme
  • 6 x Life assurance and income protection after 12 months service
  • Over 400 online courses, mentoring, apprenticeships, and development programmes
  • Access to our benefits platform for exclusive discounts & savings

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Proven experience in a product ownership or product management role within complex, enterprise-scale environments, ideally supporting People, HR, colleague, manager, or corporate services products.
  • Strong experience defining and evolving People technology products or platforms, preferably including SAP SuccessFactors and related employee lifecycle capabilities.
  • Experience setting product vision, strategy, and roadmaps, with a clear focus on measurable People outcomes, user needs, value realisation, adoption, and service performance rather than delivery outputs alone.
  • Experience working within large-scale digital transformation programmes, ideally involving the move from legacy or fragmented People processes to integrated, data-led, and user-centred platforms.
  • Experience managing and influencing across multiple delivery teams, People stakeholders, Technology teams, transformation partners, and third-party suppliers, providing clear product direction rather than task-level control.
  • Experience translating People strategy, colleague needs, manager needs, operational requirements, and business priorities into coherent product priorities, roadmaps, and outcomes.
  • Experience balancing live service stability with ongoing product evolution, particularly for business-critical People applications and processes.
  • Experience integrating People applications within complex enterprise architectures, including dependencies across SAP SuccessFactors, payroll, identity, finance, reporting, data, integration, and digital services.
  • Strong experience using data, insight, service performance, and user feedback to drive product decisions, continuous improvement, adoption, and colleague and manager experience.
  • Experience delivering improvements in colleague, manager, and People team experience, particularly in employee lifecycle, case management, self-service, workflow, or service management environments.
  • Agile, Product Ownership, Product Management, certification desirable, such as SAFe, Scrum Product Owner, Scrum Master, PO/PM, or equivalent.
  • SAP SuccessFactors demonstrable hands-on experience with SuccessFactors modules is desirable.
