The Product Architect is responsible for defining, documenting and owning high-quality product and integration specifications that enable the effective delivery of insurance products across Policy Administration Systems (PAS) and aggregator integration frameworks.
The role is also accountable for ensuring that product and integration specifications embed appropriate risk considerations, regulatory requirements and control design at the point of definition, supporting compliant delivery and good customer outcomes.
The role acts as a critical bridge between Commercial, Product, Technology and external partners, ensuring that product intent is translated into clear, structured and deliverable technical specifications. This includes ensuring alignment to architectural standards, integration requirements and delivery constraints, enabling efficient implementation and reducing delivery risk.
The role will play a key part in supporting the organisation’s IT replatforming and strategic partnerships with software houses and aggregators, ensuring consistency, clarity and scalability of product design. What you’ll need to succeed: To be successful in this role you will have proven experience in a product, proposition, commercial or insurance role (preferably within financial services). In addition to this you will have:
- Strong understanding of insurance product structures, policy administration systems and product lifecycles.
- Experience working with aggregator integrations (e.g. quote/bind journeys, data exchange formats, APIs).
- Demonstratable experience working in large-scale transformation or IT replatforming programmes.
- Good understanding of system architecture principles and integration design (APIs, data mapping, interfaces).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex requirements into clear, structured outputs.
- Experience working with structured documentation methodologies (e.g. user stories, functional specs, data mapping).
- Demonstrated experience using insight and MI to support product decisions.
- Understanding of FCA product governance and Consumer Duty expectations (desirable).
- Professional qualifications (ACII, product management, commercial strategy) beneficial but not essential.
