The Portfolio Performance Manager is accountable for strengthening portfolio-level performance discipline across Post Office Insurance, ensuring that commercial decisions consistently deliver sustainable profit, policy growth and demonstrable fair value outcomes.

The role plays a critical part in the firm’s ability to meet its Consumer Duty obligations, with particular emphasis on PROD 4 product governance requirements and GIPP expectations. Operating as a senior subject-matter expert rather than a people-leadership role, the Portfolio Performance Manager brings clarity, challenge and assurance across the end-to-end portfolio. What you’ll need to succeed: To be successful in this role you will have significant experience in insurance, financial services or a similarly complex, regulated environment. In addition to this you will have:

  • Strong understanding of insurance economics, including pricing, loss ratio, margin, volume and lifetime value dynamics.
  • Proven experience in portfolio-level performance analysis within insurance, financial services or a regulated environment.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into clear commercial insight.
  • Solid understanding of FCA Consumer Duty requirements, particularly Fair Value.
  • Experience supporting governance forums with clear, evidence-based assurance on performance and value outcomes.
  • Ability to work effectively alongside Pricing, Product, Trading, Finance and Risk teams.
  • Confident in challenging constructively and operating as an expert advisor.
  • Degree‑level qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline (e.g. economics, finance, data, actuarial or commercial analysis).
  • Professional qualifications (e.g. CII, actuarial, finance or analytics) desirable but not essential.
