The Head of Branch & Retail Experience is accountable for defining and delivering the technology product strategy for Post Office branch systems and services across the UK network. This is a senior leadership role with end-to-end ownership of core branch platforms, including EPOS and branch services, playing a central part in the modernisation of legacy technology and the creation of a secure, reliable and future-ready retail experience for customers and Postmasters.

Working closely with senior leaders across Technology, Branch Operations, Transformation, Commercial and Finance, the role ensures investment, delivery and risk are governed effectively while maintaining network stability and regulatory compliance throughout change.

About the role: The role sits at the centre of a major transformation programme to modernise the core branch technology estate, with a strong emphasis on transitioning from legacy systems to modern, integrated platforms underpinned by SAP-based ecosystems (e.g. S/4HANA and associated finance and retail capabilities). The Head of Branch & Retail Experience is accountable for ensuring that this evolution aligns to enterprise architecture, operating model, and long-term product sustainability.

Leading multiple product teams, the role owns the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for critical branch platforms, including EPOS, Core Branch Technology (SAP-centric platforms), and omnichannel services. It ensures that investment, prioritisation, and product decisions are driven by value, outcomes, and strategic alignment rather than delivery outputs alone.

Working closely with senior leaders across Technology, Branch Operations, Transformation, Commercial, and Finance, the role governs product direction, investment priorities, and platform evolution. It is accountable for ensuring that platforms are integrated, scalable, and future-ready, and that the transition from legacy systems to modern capabilities is delivered in a way that protects live branch operations.

What we can do for you: Now, more than ever, we understand that attracting the right talent is pivotal in driving the positive change needed throughout our organisation. Beyond a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • 27.5 days annual leave (rising to 30 after 2 years), plus bank holidays
  • Up to 18% on target bonus opportunity
  • Annual car allowance
  • Generous pension scheme with minimum 9% employer contribution
  • Access to 24/7 digital GP services and our Employee Assistance Programme
  • 6 x Life assurance and income protection after 12 months service
  • Over 400 online courses, mentoring, apprenticeships, and development programmes
  • Access to our benefits platform for exclusive discounts & savings

What you’ll need to succeed: Extensive experience defining and leading Technology Product strategy at senior leadership level, within complex enterprise environments. Proven success leading product-led transformation of large-scale platform ecosystems, including legacy modernisation and operating model change. Strong experience with SAP ecosystems (essential), including S/4HANA and finance-related platforms, with a clear understanding of their role in transaction processing, settlement, and financial controls. Experience owning or shaping core platform products, particularly within financial systems, transaction processing, or regulated environments. Demonstrated experience embedding product-centric operating models, governance, and value-driven decision-making frameworks across large organisations. Experience influencing and aligning senior stakeholders across Technology, Finance, Operations, and Commercial functions. Strong experience operating in multi-supplier and complex enterprise environments, providing strategic direction rather than delivery management. Experience ensuring auditability, regulatory compliance, and financial integrity within large-scale technology platforms. Strong background in enterprise architecture, platform integration, and SAP-aligned ecosystems.

You will:

  • Set and own the product vision, strategy and roadmap for core branch technology platforms
  • Lead the modernisation of legacy branch systems, balancing long-term strategy with operational continuity
  • Drive improvements in customer and Postmaster experience through platform and service evolution
  • Lead and develop multiple product teams, ensuring clear ownership, accountability and delivery focus
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to govern investment, manage dependencies and mitigate delivery risk
