We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and trustworthy Post Office Counter Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while handling a wide range of Post Office services including mail, parcels, financial transactions, and retail sales. This role requires accuracy, honesty, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving customers at the Post Office counter in a professional and courteous manner
- Processing mail, parcels, special delivery, and international postage
- Handling financial services including bill payments, banking transactions, money transfers, and foreign currency
- Verifying identification and documentation in line with Post Office procedures
- Processing lottery sales and other retail transactions (where applicable)
- Balancing the till and ensuring cash handling procedures are strictly followed
- Maintaining accurate records and completing end-of-day reconciliation
- Promoting additional products and services to customers
- Ensuring compliance with all security, fraud prevention, and data protection policies
- Maintaining a clean and organised counter area
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred
- Cash handling experience essential
