The Product & Proposition Director is responsible for defining and delivering the commercial strategy that drives growth, profitability, and competitiveness across Post Office Insurance’s (POI) product portfolio. This role leads the development, optimisation and in-life performance of all insurance propositions, ensuring they meet customer needs, deliver fair value, and support POI’s commercial ambitions. The Director acts as the commercial engine of the business identifying revenue opportunities, strengthening insurer partnerships, improving product economics, and ensuring propositions are differentiated, scalable and commercially sustainable. This role sets the strategic direction for portfolio growth and works cross-functionally to ensure strong commercial execution across all channels.
The Product & Proposition Director is required to proactively participate in the development and delivery of functional strategy and commercial objectives, always modelling appropriate leadership behaviours and demonstrating a customer first mindset. They will ensure all commercial decisions align with Consumer Duty, customer fairness and POIs conduct risk standards. To be successful in this role you will have significant senior leadership experience in Product, Proposition or Commercial roles within insurance or broader financial services. In addition to this you will have:
- Proven track record of delivering commercial growth, portfolio improvements and successful product launches, while meeting regulatory expectations
- Strong experience working with insurers, underwriters and actuarial teams on pricing, product design and performance improvement.
- Deep understanding of FCA product governance and Consumer Duty frameworks with hands‑on accountability for Product Reviews and Fair Value Assessments
- Experience leading cross‑functional teams and driving large‑scale commercial programmes.
- Relevant professional qualifications preferred (ACII, product management or commercial strategy qualifications).
