Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities.
Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: Keep manure disposal operations of the poultry houses fully functional ensuring that cross belts, incline belts, and manure dog houses are kept in satisfactory operating standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for maintenance of manure discharge equipment including cross belts, incline belts, bearings, replacing motors, replacing drive belts, tracking of cross and incline belts, and ensuring that belts are not running in water by sucking excess water out of dog house pits.
- Responsible for and the use of all hand tools.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Understands how to safely use a ladder, a fire extinguisher, tools (such as power and metal cutting tools).
- Adheres to safe work practices, following GMPs, maintaining sanitary conditions and ensuring that product quality is maintained.
- Reports to management if any conditions or practices may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Ability to work in a safe manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, humid, and warm environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to become certified in LOTO (lock out tag out) and confined space.
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
- Open to change.
- Positive interpersonal relationships.
- Able to work independently and with others in a team environment.
- Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
- CDL required, tanker endorsement preferred, but not required.
- Able to learn and receive a Master Pumper License.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
- Capabilities to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to safely lift 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders.
- Ability to climb 100 feet in the air and into 12 foot pits (Layer Farms only).
- Ability to work outside in the heat and cold for long periods of time.
