Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.
Responsibilities
This position performs process and production maintenance throughout the facility. Multi craft maintenance responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Equipment breakdowns, installation and startups
- Process improvements
- Preventative/precision maintenance programs
- Continuous improvements activities i.e. increasing machine reliability and installation of facility capital investments
Compliance with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.
This role will be for M-F 6am-2PM.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilise CMMS to support the maintenance function including review, execution and documentation of scheduled/unscheduled work on a daily basis.
- Experience in the installation and repair of mechanical equipment required.
- Diagnose and repair of all machinery and process malfunctions, must be fluent in mechanical troubleshooting.
- Diagnose and repair of all mechanical power transmission equipment.
- Knowledge of gear boxes, mechanical drives, variable speed applications, and Servo motors.
- Diagnose and repair refrigeration, steam and pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of cylinders, valves, manifolds, vacuum systems, air filtration and lubrication devices.
- Diagnose, repair and overhaul pumps, automatic control valves, sensors, positioners, actuators, basic electrical AC/DC troubleshooting, and related systems.
- Proficient in knowledge of bearings, pulleys, chain drives, belt drives, and lubricants standards and applications.
- Experienced use of precision tools i.e. dials indicators, micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges.
- Read and decipher mechanical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams.
- Ability to read/interpret Electrical Schematics is a plus.
- Skilled in pipe fitting, rigging, and use of mechanical tools, hand tools, and power tools.
- Skilled in machine shop to fabricate within specific tolerance is a plus.
- 480v 3 phase knowledge required.
- Knowledge and practice of NFPA 70E preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of personal/process control computers, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and Networking devices a plus.
- Allen Bradley experiences is a plus.
- Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
- Adhere to Quality work practices, follow all GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
- Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
- EDUCATION: AA in related field, operations or applicable technical knowledge or degree/certification from trade school.
- EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in industrial operations, plant operations, maintenance, utilities and/or related field.
Language Skills:
- Ability to communicate orally/written and possess interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in both one-on-one and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distances.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to participate analytical, planning, problem-solving, and small project management skills.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Competent in using CMMS System (Preferably SAP).
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to be flexible to shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.
- Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a “get-it-done, can-do” attitude, a self-starter.
- Assist in developing troubleshooting programs and job aids.

Ability to endure daily excessive walking, standing, crouching, lifting, twisting, climbing.
