Location Description Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Plant Controller, the Cost Reporting Lead is responsible for the preparation and analysis of accounting reports related to manufacturing processing, including shrink, labour and KPI reporting.
- This role will provide insight on plant performance to help drive operational efficiencies.
- Responsibilities include a high level of business partnering with plant operational staff to ensure control procedures are followed and plant understands their financial performance.
- Prepare operational reporting of KPI’s and reoccurring reports (e.g. mid-month and month end trend reporting).
- Research of material count variances and applicable shrink reporting.
- Assist in the development of new reports as requested to support plant operations and understanding of financial results.
- Support month-end accounting including the completion of journal entries as assigned.
- Adhere to practices that ensure SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance.
- Assist with the completion of annual budgets including understanding of cost drivers and plant cost trends.
- Responsible for monitoring standard costs; highly organized, with ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated skills in all aspects of financial accounting, reporting and analysis.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Aptitude for effective and efficient utilisation of computer technologies and software.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or associate’s degree in accounting/finance with equivalent experience.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience.
- MS Office expertise required.
- SAP experience preferred.
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification a plus.
