Location Description

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Line loader is responsible for loading flats of eggs into the machine. Line Loader will use the touch screen to operate the machine. S/he is responsible for keeping their area clean and neat. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Loads flats of eggs in the Loader.
  • Uses touch screen to operate the machine.
  • Visually inspects eggs for quality issues.
  • Keeps area around machines clean and neat.
  • Stacks flats in proper amounts and heights, then wraps flats with plastic.
  • Removes egg that is stuck to the flats.
  • Removes empty flats from the flat stacker.
  • Dumps inedible buckets, from machines being loaded, after the end of shift clean up.
  • Interacts with department personnel, communicates issues to Operators.
  • Sprays down and cleans equipment and floor to meet USDA specifications.
  • Follows HACCP guidelines.
  • Follows proper SOP’s.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure product quality is maintained.
  • Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Assumes personal responsibility to insure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Insures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required

  • Less than high school education.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a company pallet jack license.
  • Experience with pallet jack preferred.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
  • Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
  • Able to safely lift and carry 50lbs.
  • Able to work independently or with others in a team environment depending upon the assignment.
  • Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction.
  • Displays responsible behavior at work.
  • Open to change.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments.
  • Ability to work around required cleaning solutions.
  • Possesses good hand-eye coordination.
  • Able to stand on hard surface most of the shift, ascend and descend stairs, bend, stoop or crouch, grasp and reach.
