Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.
Position Summary: Hardcooked Laborers perform a variety of essential production and labor duties within the hard-cooked department. Responsibilities include inspecting product and packaging, ensuring correct labeling and counts, and maintaining quality standards. This role supports safety protocols and adheres to food safety and quality procedures to enhance product consistency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect finished product packaging for shell fragments, grades, and accurate egg counts.
- Assist in egg quality inspection, removing broken eggs and shell fragments as necessary.
- Apply correct labels to tubs and understand date codes and item numbers.
- Ensure bags and pails are properly sealed and clean.
- Assist operators with machine start-ups and film changes.
- Stack tubs of finished product onto designated pallets.
- Load flats of eggs onto conveyor belts manually.
- Stage eggs from totes onto preparation tables.
- Perform checks on pasteurizers, metal detectors, and brine solutions.
- Maintain cleanliness in the production area.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for consistent performance.
- Adhere to safe work practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and sanitary conditions to uphold product quality and safety.
- Report any issues affecting food safety, quality, or personnel safety to management.
- Ensure a safe and healthy workplace by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain regulatory compliance at all times.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Less than high school education required.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
- Proficient in using computer touch screens to operate production lines.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a company pallet jack license; experience with pallet jacks preferred.
- Basic literacy skills to read and understand simple words and numbers.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Capability to follow oral instructions and apply common sense understanding.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills and effective teamwork.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. safely.
- Capable of working independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to tasks.
- Exhibits responsible behavior and adaptability to change.
- Comfortable working in diverse environmental conditions (cold, wet, noisy, dusty, humid).
