Are you a highly skilled news media professional who is frustrated with the political or business agenda at work?

We are looking for passionate contributors (authors) for Post factum’s “News Breakdown” materials.

Post factum is a data-driven retrospective news media and educational project focused on geopolitics. Check out our website for more info.

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to criticise left-leaning and right-leaning bias thoughtfully
  • Elite understanding of global affairs, media landscape
  • Strong general knowledge of political and economic theory
  • Clear understanding of Post factum’s writing style

Test assignment:

1. Select a major global event of the past 12 months (but not less than 3) that was geopolitically significant and sparked debate at the time. (Please consider our past News Breakdown topics) — e.g. Fall of Assad in Syria.

2. Select at least 3 media outlets that presented different angles on the issue that reflect something about their editorial/political stances or can be used as valuable learning points for news readers.

3. Write a 500-1,000 word article about the event following this structure: (A) What happened and why it matters? (B) How media presented the event and why were their takes different? What does it say about their politics etc, (C) What were the actual consequences of the event in the time that has passed? What can we learn from this?
