Introduction
You will be supporting adults with learning and/or physical disabilities to live the lives they choose based on what they need and what is important to them.
This includes assisting with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, meals, and other daily activities.
About the Employer
We are a social enterprise that supports vulnerable people so they can 'Live the life they choose'.
We primarily support people with learning disabilities, young people leaving care and people with dementia, but we also do many other great things.
Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent care and support that is safe, personal, respectful, and maintains the individual's dignity.
- Provide personal care including washing, dressing, oral hygiene and nail care.
- Manage medication, ensuring the right medication, dose, and timing, and support the individual at the appropriate level.
- Prepare meals and help with eating in accordance with individual dietary requirements.
- Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, and shopping.
- Support a social and active lifestyle that aligns with the individual's wishes.
- Provide companionship to reduce isolation.
- Work closely with Support Officers to plan, review care, and support needs and activities in line with aspirations.
- Record care activities, feedback, and key information for the team and manager.
- Report and record any concerns about a person's well‑being.
- Support individuals in meaningful activities, showing willingness to participate in a wide range of activities.
- Apprenticeship & Training
- No college attendance required; training delivered through work‑based learning with face‑to‑face and remote sessions every 6 weeks with a Lifetime Learner Coach.
- Mentor support within the workplace.
- Functional Skills in English and Maths (if not already held).
- Quarter‑yearly reviews with Apprentice, Line Manager and Coach, including feedback.
- 8‑month duration leading to a Health and Social Care Foundation Apprenticeship L2 Qualification.
- Training includes the care certificate and other relevant modules to support career development.
- Successful completion and meeting performance expectations leads to a permanent role offer.
- Course & Working Arrangements
- Course: Health and Social Care Foundation Apprenticeship (Level 2).
- Working week: 30 hours per week, shift work including early morning, evenings and weekends.
- Expected duration: 8 months.
