Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Support our customers, principally through our email ticketing system.
  • Provide production DevOps support and gain hands-on experience managing Apache, Nginx, Varnish, and other web server and caching software.
  • Develop understanding of the LAMP stack, especially for PHP-based CMS-driven sites such as WordPress and Magento.
  • Learn about managing Linux servers, both virtual and bare metal, with mentoring from our team.
  • Carry out configuration management using Ansible and version control using Git.
  • Gain hands-on experience managing and optimising MySQL and MariaDB databases.
  • Provide general support to colleagues in our technology team.
  • Work across a range of areas as part of a small, collaborative team.

We have provided managed services and hosting based on Free and Open Source software for more than 20 years, and we are involved in the technical community, including support for Debian LTS, UKUUG, and the Free Software Foundation. We are active in the WordPress community and are recognised for our expertise in supporting the platform. We are a small, friendly team that prides itself on training and development, and this internship offers paid six-month experience at the London Living Wage, 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, a company mobile phone, company events, casual dress, company pension, discounted or free food, and sick pay. Our offices are just off Carnaby Street near Oxford Circus, and the role is based in person with some weekend rota work and opportunities for professional development and possible international travel.
