Our Northants based POS clients are looking for a Warehouse and Stock Controller to join their team in a key role taking ownership of the day-to-day warehouse and dispatch activity with minimal supervision. The warehouse and stock controller will need to be able to prioritise their work and support with the needs of the factory as and when they arise. They will be required to manage all aspects of goods in, stock handling, pick and pack, and dispatch for the wider team in turn supporting production, planning and project managers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for unloading and receiving ALL deliveries, identifying items, labelling with job references and highlighting any discrepancies to the appropriate person. Update delivery schedules and track deliveries against planning/project spreadsheets.
- Liaise with the relevant internal approver, maintaining and updating the PO Log accordingly.
- Issue materials to jobs/projects based on planning instructions.
- Update stock records following goods in, material usage, returns, and adjustments, processing all returns to stock with corresponding record updates.
- Support with stock checks for project allocations, including consumables and take part in stocktakes.
- Pick and pack jobs from stock; ensure updates to stock records.
- Provide accurate weights/dimensions for dispatch documentation, generate labels based on sales orders and dispatch requirements and wrap pallets to required standards; verify correct labelling.
- Take ownership of pallets dispatched by production – ensure standards are upheld.
- Support improvements in UPS collections and labelling in collaboration with Factory Manager.
- Manage levels of dispatch consumables (pallets, wrap, labels etc.).
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the warehouse, yard, and containers.
- Control waste streams and arrange timely collections with external suppliers.
- Perform regular forklift health & safety checks and ensure operational readiness.
- Minor site maintenance tasks, e.g. emptying extraction, sweeping, assisting with lifting on CNC router.
- Be available to assist on the moulding line, or cover basic packing/operator tasks as needed.
- Provide reactive support where required during staff absence or short-term needs.
- Be willing to undertake low-level factory maintenance with support from the factory manager.
Required Skills:
- Counterbalance Forklift license – Essential.
- Full and clean UK Drivers License – Essential.
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
- Positive attitude to take ownership of their role; make it your own and be open and forthcoming about potential improvements and changes to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Reliable and process-oriented.
- Good communication and attention to detail.
- Physically capable of manual handling tasks.
- Basic computer skills for spreadsheet/log updates.
- Understanding of how to work safely and the safety needs of others.
- Experience with heat bending, lasers, CNC, or injection moulding machinery (an advantage).
- Familiarity with workshop tools (e.g. circular saw, overhead router, pillar drill, crosscut saw) (an advantage).
