They are dedicated to creating a nurturing environment that supports children, young people, and adults with diverse needs.
Role Overview:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in a Specialist Education School, you will work with secondary school-aged children (11-19) who have complex Autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and behaviours that can challenge. Your role will involve:
- Providing tailored support to meet the individual needs of students.
- Assisting with classroom management and helping to create a positive learning environment.
- Supporting students with personal care and daily activities as required.
- Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to deliver effective education plans.
- Adapting teaching methods and resources to suit each student\’s needs.
Criteria for Success:
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- Experience working with SEN in either an employed or voluntary capacity.
- A recognised qualification at Level 2 or above in Support Work for Teaching and Learning in Schools is desirable.
- GCSE Maths and English at Level 2/C or equivalent.
- Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Knowledge or experience with pupils who have SEN, SEMH, or ASD.
- Ability to adapt to various situations and be creative in meeting pupils\’ needs.
- Commitment to putting the child first and treating them as an individual.
- Capability to follow educational plans and work effectively with a range of professionals.

Successful applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment safeguarding checks, including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
