This vacancy is a 30-minute commute from York City Centre via the A64/A1036.

Benefits / Criteria

  • £14.19 per hour on weekdays and during training; £15.28 per hour weekend days.
  • £28.39 per hour on bank holidays.
  • £0.45 per mile mileage reimbursement.
  • 60% – 76% of full-time equivalent across 32 hours per week (Wednesday–Saturday).
  • Alternative 2nd vacancy: Monday, Tuesday; family support on Sundays and Bank Holidays; some evenings.
  • Weekends & Holidays away for hobbies/breaks (fully paid).
  • Similar interests desirable.
  • Candidates must be flexible.
  • Car driver essential.
  • Must have some care knowledge.

Your Role

You will be supporting an active gentleman in his early 60s, with a good sense of humour. He is visually impaired, has an acquired brain injury and uses a wheelchair. He enjoys hobbies such as sport, football (Leeds United), rugby league, motor racing in his adapted vehicle, going to the gym, and visiting the pub. You will be a friend/companion who shares similar interests, in addition to providing support. Responsibilities include:

  • Support with finances.
  • No personal care is involved.
  • Accompanying him on holidays, days out, and daily activities.
  • Going to football matches and the pub.
  • Helping with financial and lifestyle decisions.
  • Assistance around the home with adaptations.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work alongside other support workers, family members, his case manager, and a team of private therapists within his home, contributing to long-term rehabilitation. You will be employed directly with the gentleman but managed through his Case Management company.
