A brand new specialist school is opening its doors in January 2027, and are looking for a number of dedicated Teaching Assistants to help bring this exciting vision to life. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something genuinely transformative from day one.

The school will provide a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious environment for children and young people aged 5-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. With capacity for 96 learners, the aim is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational setting where every pupil can thrive.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils' learning, wellbeing and personal development. Working closely with the Class Teacher and wider team, you’ll help create a caring, structured and stimulating environment where every learner is supported to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with learning activities and reinforce concepts taught by the teacher.
  • Promote positive behaviour and adapt your approach to meet individual needs.
  • Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, dressing and eating when required.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and personal development.
  • Provide clear, accurate feedback on pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Help prepare learning resources and contribute to lesson planning and evaluation.

About You

Essential Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths & English (minimum Functional Skills Level 2).
  • Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools (or willingness to work towards).

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A child-centred approach and commitment to treating every learner as an individual.
  • Ability to promote independence and positive behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident ICT skills and a collaborative working style.

Desirable

  • Experience within a SEND setting.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
