Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Finance Officer for our client, a government organisation in Kensington, London. The successful post holder will support the Home Ownership team and Housing management finance function generally by undertaking various financial, administrative and accounting tasks, including the invoicing and allocation of cash receipts. A high level of data integrity and accuracy needs to be maintained, whilst delivering an efficient and timely service.
The main duties of this role relate to processes/reconciliations of a financial nature and the provision of advice and support to Housing Management. This role is a temporary contract initially for 3 months with the possibility to extend. This role is hybrid working.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Undertake reconciliations and investigate reasons for any variances identified.
- Undertake analysis of transactions and present results in a coherent and logical format.
- Responsible for processing payments (including compensation and refunds) that do not follow the council's preferred payment process through IBC.
- Act as a point of contact within the Home Ownership team to assist Housing Management with supplier queries to resolve any issues raised promptly.
- Lead on the allocation of unallocated income.
- Assist in resolving customer finance related queries.
- Be proactive in managing and providing support to the business with regards to all transactional Finance activities.
- Process journals and undertake other administrative tasks as required.
- Contribute and assist in the day-to-day business of Home Ownership as required.
- Carry out any further finance-related duties, as directed by the Income and Litigation team manager.
Personal Requirements:
- Experience of working as part of a finance team, within a public or private sector organisation.
- Able to demonstrate a good understanding of Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable processes.
- Able to produce work to agreed deadlines and standards.
- Able to work as part of a team to support and improve financial processes, controls, or transactions.
- Able to demonstrate good inter-personal skills with colleagues and customers both in writing and verbally.
- Good organisational skills, able to prioritise work and the ability to coordinate work with colleagues.
- Good understanding of using Excel spreadsheets, and practical experience of using MS Word and other Microsoft Office packages.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and proactive in problem solving.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant financial services legislation and awareness of best practice and latest governmental/HMRC guidelines.
- Working knowledge of the landlord and tenant act and all relevant housing legislation.
- Excellent customer care skills with the ability to liaise professionally at all levels and in all situations with staff and public.
- Keen attention to detail and possessing the ability to work in a structured and organised manner, ensuring residents and colleagues are kept informed of key developments.
Working Hours: 37hrs / Monday - Friday
Pay: £23.36 per hour
Please note this role is within the scope of IR35.
