The Finance and Admin Officer will be responsible for the management of the schools advances monthly process and support for other education related payments to external organisations, the collation of monthly schools VAT returns and submission of the information to Corporate Accountancy team for inclusion in the organisation’s VAT claim within the deadlines, the collation of other schools related financial information for monthly, quarterly and year end returns and more.
To excel in this role, you should possess strong numeracy and literacy skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in your work. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with accounting skills, is essential. If you have finance experience and enjoy interacting with people and resolving queries, we would love to hear from you.
This is a permanent contract and offers a hybrid working arrangement, with an expectation that staff will be in the office at least one day every other week. Additional office attendance may be required based on service needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- The management of the monthly schools’ advances process, dealing with schools and the wider organisational queries relating to schools’ advances.
- Logging and dealing with customer queries and taking responsibility for resolving the issues in a timely manner.
- Collation of schools and other financial information, including analysis and checks for accuracy.
- Liaising with schools, officers and third parties.
- Understand and be responsive to the needs of internal and external customers, offering advice and guidance both written and verbal, and present a positive and professional image to the customers at all times, ensuring a high standard of customer service.
- Proactively develop skills, understanding and abilities in delivering support services in order to carry out standardised processes in a consistent and efficient manner.
- Deal with customer enquiries at all levels and follow through to resolution, ensuring all stakeholders are updated and the adequate audit trails are in place.
Personal Requirements:
- Excellent numeracy and written communication skills.
- Strong IT/Technical skills, knowledge, specifically excel skills.
- Finance payments and administration experience.
- Experience of dealing with high work volumes within tight deadlines.
- Understanding of financial requirements of a local authority.
- Knowledge of Council processes and working practices.
- Advanced Excel skills and accounts payable experience (desirable).
- Relevant financial qualification (E.g. AAT) (desirable).
Working Hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: £34,416.00 - £36,522.00 per annum + Benefits
