Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Surveyor for our client, a government organisation in Chichester, West Sussex. The successful post holder will manage sub-categories across the Place category portfolio and collaborate with Directorates/Services and Category Lead to champion a new best practice commercial approach to external spend in order to deliver value for money outcomes and transform the ways services are delivered. This role is a temporary contract initially for 3 months with the possibility to extend. This role has the potential to go permanent in the future.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Develop and implement robust sub-category strategies for the Place category that optimises performance for the business in terms of cost, quality, delivery and responsiveness - sharing best practice guidance for the procurement of either Capital, Waste or Highways across the organisation, taking into consideration the full supplier lifecycle.
  • Manage projects and sub-categories and be responsible for contributions to a category which currently spends £180M - £200M across c. 300 plus suppliers with significant spend in sub-categories of highways, construction, and waste.
  • Be the primary interface for the sub-categories with stakeholders, developing the category and procurements and leading stakeholders in best practices.

Personal Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience working for a local government organisation (Desirable).
  • Experience conducting category management with large budget categories.

Working Hours: 37 hrs / 9:00am - 17:00pm / Monday - Friday

Pay: £67.52 per hour

Note: Please note this role is within the scope of IR35.
