Head of Supply Chain / Permanent Position / Norwich / Salary £65,000 per annum Position 1 Recruitment are seeking a highly motivated Head of Supply Chain to join a dynamic team. As Head of Supply Chain, you will oversee the strategy and day-to-day operations of the supply chain, including logistics, warehousing, and procurement. You will ensure materials and products are effectively planned, sourced, stored, and distributed to support the business. The role focuses on improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing service, while maintaining compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership • Develop and implement the supply chain strategy aligned to business goals. • Lead and manage procurement, logistics, and stores teams to ensure seamless end-to-end operations. • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels. • Establish and maintain strong supplier and logistics partner relationships. Procurement • Oversee the procurement function ensuring value for money, quality, and timely supply of goods and services. • Negotiate contracts and supplier agreements to deliver cost savings and risk mitigation. • Develop supplier performance management systems and ensure compliance with ethical sourcing policies. Logistics • Manage inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective transport solutions. • Optimise transport and distribution networks to achieve efficiency and sustainability targets. • Monitor carrier performance, freight costs, and ensure compliance with health & safety and regulatory requirements. Stores / Warehousing • Oversee the operation of stores and warehousing functions to ensure accurate stock control and inventory management. • Implement best practices in storage, handling, and materials flow to support production and sales. • Ensure systems and processes deliver accurate stock visibility and support business planning. People & Performance Management • Provide strong leadership, coaching, and development to the supply chain team. • Set and monitor departmental KPIs and report on supply chain performance to senior management. • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability. Compliance & Risk Management • Ensure all supply chain activities comply with company policies, legal standards, and relevant industry regulations. • Manage risks in the supply chain including supplier reliability, market fluctuations, and logistical challenges. • Drive sustainability and responsible sourcing initiatives within the supply chain. The Head of Supply Chain candidate will have proven experience in a senior supply chain management role, covering procurement, logistics, and warehousing. Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget management, is essential, along with excellent negotiation, supplier, and contract management skills within a manufacturing or engineering environment. You should have a track record of leading and developing cross-functional teams, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Proficiency in IT systems, including ERP/MRP platforms and MS Office, is required
