Position 1 Recruitment is seeking an experienced Design Manager for our client providing innovative solutions across commercial and industrial sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to advance their career while working with innovative products in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This is a full-time position.

Lead, shape, and grow multi-site design operations as a hands-on Design Manager. You’ll drive high-quality design output, streamline processes, and support a talented team across local sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Operations & Standards
- Set, maintain, and enforce high standards of drawing practice.
- Establish a robust drawing checking and approval workflow.
- Create and maintain a library of standard design details to ensure consistency.
- Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Work closely with production teams to enhance efficiency and manufacturability.
- Organise and lead design review meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement through lessons-learned reviews.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead design teams across multiple sites, providing coaching, performance reviews, recruitment, onboarding, and professional development.
- Allocate and manage workloads to meet project deadlines and targets.
- Stakeholder Management & Reporting
- Collaborate with leadership, customers, and third parties to ensure designs meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and report monthly KPIs to the Head of Projects.
You will need:
- Experience as a Design Manager in a similar or larger business
- Leadership experience and managing multi-sites.
- AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks
- Knowledge of Autodesk Vault or Solidworks PDM
- Experience producing 2D drawings and coordinating designs with customers and third parties
- Working within an ISO9001-accredited business
