Position 1 Recruitment is seeking a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join our clients team in Bury St Edmunds. This role is ideal for a proactive and driven individual with both mechanical and electrical expertise, working with large-scale industrial processing and production equipment.
The business offers:
- Salary: Up to £50,000 per year, plus a 5% bonus (after 6 months)
- Pension: Well match your contributions up to 8%

Shift Pattern: Full-time, 42 hours/week, Panama shift (days & nights) 6 till 6. 3 days, 2 nights, 5 off 2 days, 2 nights, 5 off 2 days, 3 nights, 4 off
Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities:
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical production equipment
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair machinery, including material handling systems, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, drives, PLCs, and control panels
- Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete paperwork promptly
- Participate in the BOPEX continuous improvement program
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, company policies, and regulations
- Offer flexibility for on-call and out-of-hours work when required
The successful Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will have:
- Relevant qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
- Strong mechanical skills: conveyors, material handling, pneumatics, and hydraulics
- Strong electrical skills: PLCs, inverter controls, motors, wiring, and control systems
- Experience in a heavy industrial environment
- Solid knowledge of Health & Safety protocols, including Lock Out/Tag Out, Safe Isolation, Working at Height, Permit to Work, Confined Space, and ATEX/DSEAR
- Previous experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance preferred
