Applicants should have previous experience working on a CNC Machine and Router and have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, ensuring precision and adherence to
strict tolerances.
Responsibilities:
To accurately machine components from drawings, using mills, lathes, drills and various small power tools. Machine sheet materials in addition to solid components.
To accurately machine components from DFX files.
Modify existing and prototype components.
Liaise with the Engineering design team, often machining from working sketches or verbal description.
Work with factory operatives in order to produce jigs to assist production.
Assist the development technicians from time to time to assist with assembling and testing of products
Respond to the task loading from the Team Leader will require a degree of flexibility.
Using initiative to ensure the most efficient method of machining components to ensure cost effective manufacture.
The Person:
Time-served apprentice in mechanical engineering and CNC router or equivalent relevant workplace experience
Ability to operate and set up manual milling/turning and CNC machines.
Proven experience of working from engineering drawings and also ability to manufacture components from verbal instructions or sketches.
Knowledge of CNC program would be an advantage.
The ability to create CNC files and path to the files.
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Have a working understanding of the principles and tools of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools within a low volume, high quality manufacturing facility.
Understanding of Health and Safety
Ability to work productively, efficiently, and effectively with initiative and drive, even under tight deadlines and pressure, while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team at all levels.
Identifies with the Companys Core Values and encourages promotion amongst team members.
Overtime may be required depending on company production needs, including weekend work.
