About the Role
Are you a commercially minded procurement professional who thrives on building strong supplier relationships and delivering results? Join us and play a vital role in developing and maintaining a high-performing global supply chain. From strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations to ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and compliance, you’ll directly influence operational success. Working closely with Design Engineering and cross-functional teams, you’ll help secure continuity of supply, support new product introductions, and drive value across the business through effective supplier management and procurement excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Establishing and developing suppliers for mechanical components, subcontract processing and materials
- Technical and delivery performance management of suppliers
- Evaluating new and potential suppliers
- Obtaining/negotiating pricing, to meet expectations and budget
- The raising of Purchase orders, ensuring price, delivery, technical, quality and commercial specifications are correctly defined
- Raising of works orders for sub-contracted processes
- Monitor supplier performance ensuring supplier quality/delivery matrixes are met
- New Product Development support such as design-for-manufacturing
- Facilitate effective communications between internal and external stakeholders
- Formation of Long-term agreements to manage business relationships
What We’re Looking For
- CIPS / APICS or relevant supply chain qualification
- Ability to read technical drawings would be advantageous
- Knowledge of materials and surface treatment specifications, particularly metals
- Working experience of ERP / MRP systems
- Negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Competent in MSOffice applications
Desirable - Mechanical and materials technical qualifications or apprenticeship
- Mechanical component/machining engineering background
- Aerospace background/knowledge preferred
- Management of projects and operating within a project team
- Application of contractual terms and clauses desirable
Personal skills required
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work, excellent problem solving skills
- Able to assimilate new knowledge effectively
- Ability to apply “Best Practice” within the procurement role
- Individual to be tenacious and motivated
- Organised - able to drive tasks and projects to achieve deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail to ensure compliance
