PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE, is currently seeking applications for the position of Warehouse Operations Graduate on an initial 2-year contract, reporting to the Regional Head Of Warehouse & Logistics Operations Manager. Founded in 1904, Portwest has become one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world, currently employing over 5,100 staff worldwide. We design, manufacture and distribute market leading workwear, safety wear and PPE in fully owned production facilities.

Job Summary

Portwest is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated Warehouse Operations Graduate to join our team. This structured 2-year development program is designed to provide hands-on experience across all aspects of warehouse operations, ensuring you gain the skills and knowledge required to progress into a leadership role. By the end of the program, you will be equipped with the expertise needed to be considered for deployment to a site as a Warehouse Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Year 1: Core Operational Experience
  • Inbound & Receiving: Learn stock intake processes, quality control checks, and system updates.
  • Inventory Management: Gain experience in stock control, audits, and warehouse management systems.
  • Order Fulfilment: Work within picking, packing, and dispatch to understand efficiency and accuracy in distribution.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Understand regulations, best practices, and how to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Process Improvement: Assist in identifying and implementing operational efficiencies.
  • Year 2: Leadership & Management Development
    • Supervisory Responsibilities: Begin leading small teams and overseeing day-to-day operations.
    • Performance Analysis: Learn to monitor KPIs and drive productivity improvements.
    • Stakeholder Communication: Work closely with suppliers, logistics partners, and internal teams.
    • Strategic Planning: Contribute to warehouse layout optimization and operational strategy.
    • Project Management: Take ownership of a key warehouse improvement project.
    • Attend a Lean Management course to understand the effects on your departments and how to implement on site.
