Portwest, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE, is currently seeking applications for the position of Group Industrial Engineer in Manchester or Thurnscoe, UK on a full-time permanent basis. Job Summary
The role is responsible for the measurement and implementation of Standard Minute Values across a network of Garment factories in Asia, Africa and Central America to facilitate accurate measurement of production efficiency at individual, line and factory level. You will be based in Manchester or Thurnscoe office and will be supported by a team of Industrial Engineers in the factories. You will be responsible for managing and developing the team to meet KPIs and to maintain a database of SMVs for use across the factory network. You will be tasked with challenging and improving production methods to improve efficiencies through innovation and improved processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a small team of Industrial Engineers based overseas
- Measuring and implementing new Standard Minute Values (SMVs) and maintaining an SMV database in a Product Lifetime Management (PLM) system.
- Monitoring of factory efficiency performance and continuous improvements.
- Implementing and monitoring operator incentive schemes in factories.
- Oversea factory visits, setting up production systems and training.
- Innovation - liaising with factories, product team and supply chain to improve processes.
- Attending machinery shows where necessary.
Requirements
- A third level qualification in Industrial Engineering with a preference for Garment Technology
- Experience working as an Industrial Engineer in a factory
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Good problem solver
- Experience in using a Product Lifetime Management system and ERP system
