PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the position of Junior Ecommerce and Marketplace Specialist in Manchester UK, on a permanent basis reporting to our Head of Ecommerce and Marketplaces. JOB SUMMARY
Working alongside experienced Marketplace Managers, you will support the day‑to‑day running and optimisation of our Amazon and marketplace channels. You will gain hands‑on experience in marketplace operations, product catalogue management, Amazon Advertising (PPC), promotions and performance reporting. This is a hybrid role: 1-2 days per week from Portwest's Manchester office (Salford Quays). The remaining days are remote. Occasional travel to our warehouse in Thurnscoe is required. Access to a car is essential for inter-office travel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support day‑to‑day marketplace operations across Amazon Vendor Central, Amazon Seller Central and eBay.
- Maintain and optimise product listings across large product catalogues, ensuring data is accurate, complete and compliant.
- Monitor listing health, pricing, stock availability and Buy Box performance, escalating issues where required.
- Support Amazon Advertising / Amazon PPC campaigns (e.g. Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands) through keyword analysis, basic bid updates and reporting.
- Produce regular marketplace performance reports covering sales, traffic, conversion and inventory health using Excel or Google Sheets.
- Assist with promotions, deals and seasonal trading activity as briefed by Marketplace Managers.
- Use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini to support reporting, analysis and repetitive operational tasks in line with best‑practice guidelines.
- Work with internal teams (sales, supply chain, marketing) to resolve operational issues and improve marketplace performance.
- Stay informed on marketplace trends, tools and best practices relevant to Amazon and other digital marketplaces.
REQUIREMENTS
- 1–3 years’ experience in ecommerce, digital marketplaces, online trading or a related commercial/operational role.
- Direct experience working with Amazon marketplaces (Vendor Central and/or Seller Central) in any trading, merchandising or operational capacity.
- Exposure to Amazon Advertising / Amazon PPC or other marketplace advertising platforms is beneficial but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail when working with product data, listings and large SKU catalogues.
- Comfortable analysing performance data and building reports in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks with clear communication and follow‑through.
- Interest in developing a career in ecommerce / Amazon marketplaces and in using AI tools to work more efficiently.
- You do not need prior experience with specific systems such as Linnworks, Akeneo or Bynder – full training will be provided.
