Due to growth in the team, we are looking for multiple dedicated and collaborative Production Maintenance Technicians to help care for and maintain our production assets. This is a hands-on role that blends technical expertise with teamwork, continuous learning, and meaningful impact across our water treatment and distribution networks.
You will work closely with the Production Technical Team Leader to ensure our operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently—helping to drive improvements that benefit both the business and the people we serve.
What will you be doing?
- Support the delivery of planned maintenance across key assets and ensure we’re working in line with schedules.
- Carry out maintenance on instruments, low voltage switchgear, dosing equipment, pneumatic systems, valves, pumps, and motors.
- Visit treatment works, pumping stations, and reservoirs—supporting the operability and performance of our sites.
- Monitor and gather asset performance data and record your work clearly and accurately.
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams with confidence and attention to detail.
- Respond quickly and thoughtfully to equipment breakdowns—troubleshooting issues, sourcing spares, and repairing systems.
- Ensure our equipment is maintained and calibrated to high standards, in line with audit requirements.
- Collaborate with team members, operators, and departments—sharing insights and exchanging vital information.
- Maintain documentation to support internal processes and uphold compliance.
- Keep a close eye on any external activities that may impact our water sources, reliability, or operational effectiveness.
What do you need?
- A recognised apprenticeship or skilled qualification in a relevant technical field.

The successful applicant will be required to have a full UK manual car driving licence (Class B), will have to undergo a driving assessment, consent to ongoing driving licence checks and additionally any other safety measures deemed necessary by Portsmouth Water Ltd in connection with driving. If you are successful for the role, you will also be required to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) pre-employment checks that will include a basic disclosure check. Depending on the role, you may also be required to go through the national security vetting process for either a CTC or SC clearance check. Any offer of employment is conditional upon completion and receipt of satisfactory checks.
