Portsmouth Water are delighted to be looking for a dynamic Senior Water Resources Planner to join our team in rewriting how water will be supplied deep into the 21st century.
As a key player you will be supporting the management and technical delivery of Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) and Drought Plan workstreams. The successful applicant will work with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to major projects like the Havant Thicket Reservoir, while driving innovative solutions and making a real impact in our Region.
What will you be doing? Key Responsibilities
- Technical lead on water resources workstreams to contribute towards a successful PR29.
- Tracking and monitoring the implementation of our WRMP, involving internal and external collaboration.
- Management of consultants to deliver water resources projects in accordance with agreed timescales and budgets.
- Attending and representing the company at relevant stakeholder group meetings (internal and external) including Water Resources South East regional planning working groups.
- Supporting the Asset Directorate on communications with the Executive Team and Board.
- Collaborative working with the Havant Thicket Reservoir, production planning, regulations and Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) project teams.
- Develop a strong understanding of our sites, network, and the local and regional water resources issues, to support the continuous improvement of our performance and efficiency.
- Data analysis and reporting to support the production of our WRMP and Drought Plan.
What do you need? Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
- A degree (or equivalent) in an environmental science/water resources management discipline or a related discipline.
- Knowledge and experience of working on relevant workstreams in the UK (e.g. Drought Planning, WINEP & Environmental Destination, WRMP demand & supply forecasting, WRMP options appraisal).
- Organisational and time management skills.
- Have a positive can-do attitude.
- Excellent verbal, written and non-verbal communication skills.
- Ability to proactively work in both a small team and independently.
- Excellent computer literacy skills.
- Excellent numerical literacy and data interpreting skills.
- Sound management and technical skills in water resources.
It would be advantageous if you also had
- Full UK manual car driving licence (Class B), driving assessment, consent to driving licence checks and additional safety measures deemed necessary by Portsmouth Water Ltd.
- Obtained professional membership of an environmental, engineering or project management body.
- Strong experience of dealing with groundwater related issues (preferably in the chalk-based landscape) or strong experience in demand forecasting.
