Portsmouth Water are delighted to have an opening for an Operational Technology (OT) Engineer for our highly regarded Production Department. We are seeking a proactive and solutions-focused individual to take responsibility for designing, developing, and optimising OT solutions and processes across Production assets. Working closely with both Operations and Technical teams to improve site reliability, reduce energy consumption, reduce risk to sufficiency of supply, water quality, and health, safety and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide EICA/OT support and expertise to the water treatment works and associated Network assets.
  • Effective delivery of system optimisations and improvements to enable efficient operation of Production assets via implementation of minor OT/ICS projects.
  • Upgrades of OT assets.
  • Optimisation of OT assets.
  • Production output and reliability.
  • Process/control change/modification.
  • Deliver training and mentoring to M&E and EICA Technicians.
  • Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Commission Production OT works where required.
  • Change control of electronic documents, software packages, PLC/HMI/SCADA/GeoSCADA files.
  • Proactive monitoring of OT cyber security equipment and systems.
  • Collect, process, and analyse operational data.
  • Assist with reactive/operational work where required.
  • Complex fault finding and diagnosis on Industrial Control Systems.

Skills, Qualifications & Competencies

  • Advanced understanding of instrument control systems and process instrumentation.
  • Experienced in hardwired circuitry.
  • Proficient in PLC, SCADA and HMI design/modification.
  • Proficient in telemetry configuration.
  • Proficient in OT communications protocols.
  • Ability to work to and from project/engineering documentation.
  • Working knowledge of generic cyber security policies and equipment.
  • Full lifecycle project delivery.
  • Organisation of resources.
  • Commissioning.
  • Root cause analysis.
  • Report writing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering/Control Systems Engineering.
  • HNC/HND Electronic Engineering/Control Systems Engineering.
  • BS7671 18th Edition.
  • Recognised apprenticeship in a relevant field.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Medium Risk Confined Space.
  • Recognised Electrotechnical Certification Scheme.
