At Portsmouth Water, we’re looking for a Data Reporting Analyst to contribute meaningfully to delivering accurate, timely regulatory reporting while supporting understanding through data. You’ll design and develop reporting, working collaboratively with teams across the business to explore and bring together datasets that support informed decision‑making. What will you be doing?
- Gathering and compiling data from various sources
- Working within a regulatory framework, ensuring data and information are accurate, timely and reliable
- Using Power BI reports to meet business needs
- Applying analytical methods and tools to interpret data, explore patterns and develop insights
- Monthly reporting aligned with business activity, including internal assurance
- Using techniques to identify potential future trends based on historical data
- Responding to ad‑hoc data requests, collation and reporting needs across the business
- Maintaining attention to detail and contributing to continuous improvement
- Working in partnership with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and provide useful insights
- Sharing findings through visualisations to help make complex data clearer and easier to use
- Acting as a trusted partner to multiple senior colleagues, helping to build engagement, insight and organisational resilience
- Participating in regulator, industry and internal stakeholder meetings as a representative of the business
What do you need?
- Interpreting data, analysing results and reporting on a range of business metrics
- Developing and maintaining data, data collection systems and approaches that support quality and efficiency
- Sourcing data from primary or secondary sources
- Identifying data quality issues and working through solutions
- Clearly explaining findings, both in writing and verbally, to non‑technical stakeholders, including creating accessible reports and presentations
- Clear, thoughtful communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrating curiosity and openness when exploring datasets and their drivers, with a reflective and analytical approach
- Ongoing learning and development, with an interest in emerging technologies
- Working cooperatively as part of a team
- Experience using analytical tools such as Power BI, Excel and similar applications
