Portsmouth Water are delighted to have an opening for a Finance Assistant to join our exceptional Finance department for 12 months. As a Finance Assistant you will become an integral part of a collaborative and high‑performing Finance team. In this varied role, you will support both accounts payable and receivable activities, helping to keep our financial operations running smoothly and efficiently. As the successful candidate, you will play a key part in accurately recording and managing financial transactions within our systems, while ensuring processes are delivered with precision and on time. Alongside this, you will build strong relationships across the business and with external partners, providing a high level of service and support that contributes to the overall success of the Finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately validate invoices against purchase orders, ensuring all trade invoices are issued correctly and on time.
- Support the Finance Operations Manager with a variety of ad‑hoc tasks, contributing to the smooth running of the team.
- Maintain the purchase ledger and related control accounts, helping ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
- Process invoices, credit notes, and payments efficiently and with great attention to detail.
- Reconcile supplier statements, quickly identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
