Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in basic and complex mathematical principles, equations, formulas, and calculations, as well as an understanding of the application of mathematics in the solution of practical problems.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Develops and administers Illustrative Mathematics curriculum and other curricular systems as consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is collaborative, curious, and inquiry-based.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for the subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilise the available time for instruction.
- Integrates technology and real-world applications to enhance student understanding and problem-solving.
- Teaches knowledge and skills in mathematics, including concepts such as real and imaginary numbers, formulas, calculations, and geometry, and promotes creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas.
- Encourages problem-solving, analytical thinking, and logical reasoning skills through engaging mathematical tasks and discussions.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Utilises formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, identify areas for improvement, and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Maintains familiarity with district and New Hampshire State standardized tests to adapt curriculum to maximise student achievement on such tests.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or conducting research.
- Organises and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Updates parents and guardians regularly on student progress, and collaborates with them to support students' academic growth.
- Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behaviour needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment, and maintains inventory records.

- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

- Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy machine and telephone.

- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of a wide range of mathematical subject areas, including arithmetic equations, calculus, trigonometry, geometry, and other related areas.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organise and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation concerning performance and professional growth.

Qualifications Profile
- Certification/License: NH State Certification as a Mathematics Education Teacher. Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
- Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignments. Master's Degree preferred.
Experience
- Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred. Pre-Algebra through Calculus II is offered at the high school.
